About the English Department

The English department at Trinity School are an enthusiastic, supportive team, who enjoy coming to work. We love Literature: reading it, talking about it, writing it - and we seek to impart this love to our students.

There are currently six classes in each year group at Key Stages 3 and 4; we prepare students to take AQA GCSE Literature and Language for years 10 and 11, and at key stage three we are crafting a broad, balanced, and interesting curriculum for building those key skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. In recent years, we have worked hard to create shared schemes of learning that get the best out of our students, and enable each of us to contribute to the progress of our learners, and of the department over time. We blend our Literature and Language curriculum, using homework to good effect, and keeping lessons engaging. We also have an A-Level English Literature and an A-Level Film Studies course, both of which are popular amongst students. At key stage 5, learners have nine hours of contact time per fortnight, spent with two class teachers. Some interesting filmic and Literary texts are covered, and students are motivated and engaging.

About You

You will be committed to the development and progress of students, able to facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential and you will be the sort of person who enjoys a collaborative team working style, relishes a challenge and is resilient.  We are open to applications from experienced teachers and ECTs.  It is an advantage to be able to teach to A level and Film Studies.

About the Computer Science Department

The Computer Science department at Trinity School is a vibrant and innovative team, dedicated to advancing the knowledge and skills of our students in digital technologies. We aim to strengthen our existing talented team. We possess a clear curriculum vision for Computer Science and are in search of a dedicated and skilled professional to bring this vision to life in the classroom.

In Key Stages 3, all students engage with Computer Science once a week, fostering early interest and foundational skills in this crucial field.  We introduce students early to programming through user-friendly platforms like Scratch and Python, which serve as building blocks for more advanced studies.

At Key Stage 4, students can choose between two pathways: a Computer Science GCSE with OCR as the exam board, or a Vocational ICT course under the WJEC exam board.  Each year group at this stage has approximately 5 lessons per fortnight.  The early introduction to programming prepares students effectively for the rigors of the GCSE curriculum, providing them with a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of computing and information technologies.

For Key Stage 5, our offerings are currently vocational with a plan to expand into A-level courses in the near future.  We offer the Cambridge Technicals Level 3 in ICT, which comprises five units completed over two years with OCR as the exam board.  This course is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of ICT, preparing students for further education and diverse career opportunities in the tech industry.

Our department is progressive, utilizing the latest technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences.  We employ interactive boards, enabling dynamic classroom interactions and flexible, precise teaching methods suited to the complex nature of computer science.

We are looking for a passionate, innovative, and collaborative individual to join our forward-thinking team and help us continue to develop a cutting-edge Computer Science curriculum that meets the needs and aspirations of our students

About the Drama Department

Students at Trinity love Drama.  Drama is a team of 2 but with strong links, particularly with music as well as other teams across the school.

90 students were involved in our production of High School Musical this year; acting, singing, dancing and playing instruments.  A track record of strong acting and musical performance is continuing to be further established at our school.

We teach Drama to all of Key Stage 3 and have both Drama and Dance GCSE (Edexcel) courses in Key Stage 4.  We teach a variety of different genres, including Brecht, Physical Theatre and Verbatim amongst others.  We believe that the skills learnt in Drama benefit all of our students regardless of their long term plans.  We also teach Drama A level (Edexcel) in the sixth form which has been consistently popular amongst our students despite some students winning places at prestigious acting schools.

Results in recent years have been really strong, with Drama an example of excellence across the school.  There are opportunities built into the school timetable to ensure access to extra curricula drama which is popular amongst students too.

About the Maths Department

The mathematics department at Trinity School are a passionate and collaborative team, keen to enhance the learning and outcomes of students. We are looking to improve an already strong team. We have a strong curriculum vision for Mathematics and are looking for a talented and committed professional to help implement this in the classroom

In key stages 3 and 4 there are 7 classes in each year group, who each receive 7 maths lessons per fortnight. The GCSE exam board is Edexcel.

At KS5 our exam board is also Edexcel. We currently have one A-Level Maths class in both Year 12 and Year 13 and an additional Further Maths class in each year.

As a forward-thinking department with strong teacher modelling as one of its priorities, we have the capability of using interactive boards combined with mobile iPad technology, which enables us to circulate the classroom whilst modelling and also gives us a greater flexibility over specific mathematical notation and diagrams.
